Driving him crazy
Tumblr media
Word count: 1k
Pairing: Toto Wolff x assistant!reader
Summary: When Toto Wolff’s assistant navigates the fast-paced world of Mercedes F1, playful banter from drivers and engineers uncovers a growing bond between them, as Toto acts like a father figure to shy young driver Kimi Antonelli and struggles to hide his own deeper feelings.
________________________________________________________
It had been a busy day at Mercedes' factory, with engineers bustling about, drivers popping in for updates, and, of course, Toto Wolff overseeing it all with his usual intensity. You, his assistant, had gotten used to the fast-paced environment. Working alongside Toto was challenging but exciting — not to mention, you had grown quite fond of him. There was something about the way he carried himself, his sharp intelligence and wit, that never ceased to captivate you. And Toto, well, he’d never admit it outright, but there was definitely something he enjoyed about keeping you close.
This particular day, things took a lighthearted turn. You were standing next to Toto in the briefing room, typing furiously on your laptop, trying to keep up with the conversation when Kimi Antonelli, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell sauntered in after their latest sim sessions.
Lewis was the first to make a remark, flashing a mischievous smile. “Hey, Y/n, how do you even keep up with this guy? He’s a machine.”
You chuckled, shaking your head. “It’s not easy, I can tell you that. He has me running all over the place.”
Toto, standing tall beside you, glanced down with that signature half-smirk. “She manages just fine. In fact, she probably knows where I’m supposed to be more than I do,” he teased.
George piped up, raising an eyebrow. “Honestly, mate, we’ve all been wondering… do you ever give her a break? Because if I were her, I’d have to call HR by now.”
The room erupted into laughter, with Lewis doubling over dramatically. Even you had to admit that working for Toto wasn’t for the faint of heart.
Kimi Antonelli, the young and shy prodigy, stood awkwardly in the corner, clearly amused but too timid to jump into the banter. Toto, always the father figure to Kimi, gestured for him to join the conversation. “Kimi, don’t stand there like a wallflower. Tell them I’m not so bad, hm?”
Kimi blushed a bit, looking at the ground. “Uh, well… I mean, he’s okay,” Kimi mumbled, scratching the back of his head. “He just… works a lot. A lot.”
“Exactly!” Lewis chimed in. “It’s borderline criminal.”
“Okay, enough of that,” Toto cut in, though his smile didn’t fade. “Y/n handles things perfectly fine. Besides, if anyone gives her too much trouble, I’ll know about it.”
The way Toto said it had the drivers rolling their eyes, though George and Lewis exchanged knowing glances, clearly onto the growing connection between you and Toto. But before they could tease further, the engineers started to pile into the room, signaling the start of the technical debrief.
Throughout the meeting, you couldn’t help but notice how Kimi kept glancing nervously at Toto, as if trying to gauge his reactions. You’d known for some time that Toto had taken Kimi under his wing, treating him almost like a son. The older man’s protective nature was endearing, especially when it came to the younger drivers.
Once the debrief ended, the teasing started back up again.
“So, Toto,” George began, leaning casually against the wall, “when are you going to let Y/n manage the team for real? She’s practically doing it already.”
Toto gave George a sidelong look but didn’t deny it. “She’s good, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, eh?”
You shot George a playful glare. “Please don’t put any ideas in his head. I’ve got enough on my plate.”
Lewis chuckled. “Come on, Y/n, it’d be an upgrade. I mean, working with us drivers instead of constantly babysitting him?” He pointed toward Toto, feigning innocence.
Toto crossed his arms, looking down at Lewis with a mock serious expression. “You lot are barely manageable as it is.”
Just as the room filled with laughter again, Kimi, who had been quiet for most of the time, softly chimed in. “I, uh… I think Y/n’s the only one who can keep up with him. None of us could handle it.”
Everyone paused, looking at Kimi in surprise. The shy teenager wasn’t usually one for chiming in, but when he did, it was always genuine.
Toto smiled at Kimi warmly. “See? That’s why you’re my favorite,” he teased, giving the young driver a pat on the shoulder. “Now, if only the rest of these clowns would learn to follow your example.”
Kimi’s face turned bright red, but he smiled nonetheless, clearly pleased with the attention.
“Careful,” George said, smirking, “we might have some competition here, Y/n. You’ll be replaced as Toto’s number one.”
You raised an eyebrow, playing along. “Oh, I’m sure Kimi could do a better job. He’s quieter, less trouble.”
“Not a chance,” Toto interjected, looking down at you with a playful glint in his eyes. “No one replaces you.”
The teasing died down for a moment, and you felt your heart skip a beat. The banter was fun, but every once in a while, Toto would say something that made it hard to ignore the undercurrent between the two of you.
Lewis, ever the one to pick up on things, wasn’t about to let it slide. “Ohhh, what’s this? Toto’s playing favorites.”
“Always has,” George added, his grin widening.
Toto rolled his eyes, though his tone remained playful. “Alright, enough of this. Don’t you lot have cars to drive or data to review?”
“Just trying to keep it interesting,” Lewis said, throwing his arm over George’s shoulder as they began to exit. “Besides, I think we’re all interested to see where this goes.”
Once the drivers and engineers cleared out, you and Toto were left in the now-quiet room. He glanced at you, his expression softening from the banter-filled façade he wore around the team.
“Ignore them,” he murmured. “They like to cause trouble.”
You smiled, leaning slightly toward him. “Maybe, but they’re not wrong. You do act like Kimi’s dad sometimes.”
Toto let out a low laugh. “Someone has to look out for the kid. He’s too shy to speak up most of the time.”
“And what about me?” you asked, teasingly. “Are you looking out for me too?”
Toto’s eyes glinted with a warmth that made your stomach flutter. “Always,” he said quietly, his tone more serious now. “Always.”

How I Create Pouches for Spells
by repurposing old fabrics.
These DIY pouches are a personal and sustainable way to add an extra touch of intention to your spellwork.
Here are two methods I use: the Circular Pouch and the Sleeve Pouch. Both methods are beginner-friendly and require minimal sewing skills.
Materials Needed:
•Old fabric (such as clothes that no longer fit, sleeves, or scraps)
•Scissors
•Needle and thread (or a sewing machine)
•Cord, ribbon, or a fabric strip for tying the pouch
•Optional: Decorations (I decorate some pouches with embroidery, beads, or charms)
I experiment with different fabrics and colors for unique textures and energy. I prefer black sturdy materials for my protection spells, colorful tulle for beauty spells and blue velvet for good sleep spells.
Method A: Circular Pouch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This method works great for making versatile pouches of any size.
1. I prepare the fabric
I find a piece of fabric I no longer need.
I use scissors to cut the fabric into a circular shape. I sometimes use a plate or lid as a guide to trace the circle.
2. I create the cord
If the fabric doesn’t have a pre-existing cord, I cut a long, thin strip from the fabric itself to use as a cord.
I make sure it’s long enough to tie my pouch securely.
3. I assemble the pouch
I place my spell items in the center of the circle.
I gather the edges of the fabric upward to enclose the items.
I tie the cord around the gathered edges to secure my pouch.
And that’s it! A quick, no-sew pouch that’s perfect for small spells and charms.
Method B: Sleeve Pouch
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This method is ideal for repurposing shirt or sweater sleeves and creates a sturdier pouch.
1. I cut the sleeve
I take an old shirt or sweater.
I cut the sleeve horizontally at the desired length to create a short fabric “pipe.” (The longer the piece, the larger your pouch.)
2. I sew the bottom
I turn the fabric inside out so the seams are on the outside.
I sew one of the open ends shut using a needle and thread.
Sometimes I reinforce the seam by stitching twice or using a strong thread.
3. I finish the pouch
I turn the fabric right-side out.
I use the open end as the top of the pouch.
I add my spell ingredients and tie it closed with a cord or ribbon.

The Delineator, no. 4, Vol. XLVIII. Autumn Number. October 1896. Published by the Butterick Publishing Co. London & New York. Colored Plate 18. Figures D39 and D40. Promenade Toilettes. Internet Archive, uploaded by Albert R. Mann Library
Figure D 39. — LADIES’ STREET TOILETTE.
Figure D 39. — This consists of a Ladies’ jacket or blazer, a vest and skirt. The jacket pattern, which is No. 8669 and costs 1s. 3d. or 30 cents, is in thirteen sizes for ladies from twenty-eight to forty-six inches, bust measure, and may be seen again on page 437 of this publication. The vest pattern, which is No. 6398 and costs 1Od. or 20 cents, is in thirteen sizes for ladies from twenty-eight to forty-six inches, bust measure, and is shown again on its accompanying label. The skirt pattern, which is No. 8643 and costs 1s. 3d. or 30 cents, is in nine sizes for ladies from twenty to thirty-six inches, waist measure, and may be seen again on page 445 of this number of The Delineator.
Fawn faced cloth is here pictured in the jacket and cream-white cloth in the vest, both garments being finished with machine-stitching. The skirt is made of wine-colored zibeline. The jacket or blazer is here worn open and made with rounding lower front corners, but it may be closed at the bust and have square lower front corners, if preferred. Side-back and under-arm gores and a curving center seam render the jacket close-fitting at the sides and back and extra widths underfolded in box-plaits below the waist produce the popular outstanding ripples. A broad sailor collar that is curved to form three points at the back extends below the bust and shapes a point on the front of each sleeve. The newest effect is seen in the one-seam leg-o’mutton sleeves, which flare in puff style at the top and fit closely below. Pocket-laps having rounding lower front corners give a natty finish to the loose fronts; they are completed with machine-stitching to accord with the edges of the jacket and collar.
The low-cut vest is close fitting and is fastened at the center with buttons and button-holes; with it is worn a striped percale chemisette having a white linen Piccadilly collar and a black satin band-bow.
The six-piece skirt is made with a straight back-breadth and has straight edges that meet bias edges in the seams; it falls in flute folds at the sides and back and flares stylishly at the front.
Pleasing effects may be attained in the toilette by the association of harmonious colors and materials. The most successful jackets, in point of fit and style, are made up in this manner of broadcloth in either light biscuit shades or in the deep, rich Autumn tints of dahlia, green, mulberry, chestnut and wood-brown and various shades of blue and gray. Machine-stitching is the usual finish, although the trim self-strappings are not at all in disfavor, being, in fact, preferred by many fashionables. An inlay of black silk was added to the collar of a jacket made from green mixed cheviot to accompany a black vest and a green canvas skirt. For the skirt, the new camel’s-hair, serge, heather mixtures with their artistic commingling of subdued colors and broadcloth are suggested.
The brown felt hat is stylishly trimmed with ribbon, lace, feathers and flowers.
Figure D 40.— LADIES’ COSTUME.
Figure D 40. — This illustrates a Ladies’ costume. The pattern, which is No. 8658 and costs 1s. 8d. or 40 cents, is in thirteen sizes for ladies from twenty-eight to forty-six inches, bust measure, and may be seen in four views on page 414 of this number of The Delineator.
Canvas wool suiting and velvet are associated in the costume in this instance, and a ribbon stock and pipings of silk and small buttons add refined and elegant decorative touches. The basque, which is closely fitted by double bust darts and the usual seams, is in rounding outline in front, where it terminates at the waist, while at the back and sides it extends in a short skirt that is shaped to stand out in stylish, rippling folds. Gracefully tapering revers extend down the front at each side of the closing and impart a dressy effect to the waist, being slashed to form two tabs over each sleeve ; the tabs are trimmed with small buttons and the revers are prettily piped with silk. The one-seam sleeves flare in leg-o’mutton puffs at the top and fit the arm closely below; they are completed with pointed, flaring cuffs that are piped with silk. A ribbon stock covers the standing collar and is stylishly bowed at the back.
The seven-gored skirt is gathered at the back and possesses the grace and elegance characteristic of the newest styles. At the sides and back it ripples fashionably and at the front it flares broadly.
The new rough-surfaced goods—canvas wools or boucles—will make up stylishly in this manner, and the novel zibeline wools belonging to the camel’s-hair family are also commended, as well as faced cloth, with velvet for the small accessories and pipings of silk and small buttons for decoration. A ribbon stock is quite essential to a dressy effect and there are so many methods of arranging and trimming this fashionable bit of lingerie that no suggestion of sameness is ever given by its use.
The hat is trimmed with bright rose ribbon having a velvet edge, and a fancy buckle in front is chic and pretty.

A Hell of a Rockstar
This was gonna be it, this was how we gonna become a rockstar. Signing up with Vandelay's Armstrong Project was his ticket to fixing his right arm. From reception to the campus' courtyard, Chai had a pep in his step, no longer will he be dealing with his disability and he can finally live his dream. All he had to do was sleep through his surgery. He disrobed and got into a medical gown, placed all of his belongings like his MP3 player and made his way down the line. He couldn't help but look in awe at the manufacturing of the establishment, all huge and self sufficient. He was so distracted he didn't notice himself getting shoved onto a large table and got strapped in.
Up above several platforms from Chai, the president, Kale Vandelay, was discussing how the people they recruited.
"You promised me the best of the best, Mimosa!" Kale exclaimed to a woman with blonde hair in a excessively stylish blue and purple business outfit with yellow highlights.
"Production asked for test subjects, Kale. Marketing delivered," Mimosa said, motioning a side glance and a wave to a hulking lady with tanned skin, black and red hair that matched the makeup she wore.
"Don't pin it on Rekka!" the hulking lady growled with a thumb to herself with fists clenched. "Tell that grandstander Zanzo in R&D to-"
"We need people with influence, and you're giving me..." Kale cut in before picking up a MP3 player from the personal belongings from their test subjects. "LOSERS!"
"It will work," Mimosa reassured.
"It better. No screw ups! And no, DEFECTS," Kale firmly stated with eyes narrowed. He turned and examined the old MP3 player he had. "What a piece of junk," he scoffed before tossing it over the catwalk.
The MP3 would bounce off from pipe, railings and lights before falling further down to the surgery below.
Chai looked on as a large pressure plate with sensors and circuits scanned him. He waited as the operation was about to begin, only to feel a thud on his chest. He looked down to see an MP3 had landed on him.
"Uuuuuhhh..." Was all he could muster nervously before being slammed down by the machine.
Blinking into reality, Chai yawned as he woke up before sitting up. Though, he did not expect to be slap down in the middle of the streets with red buildings, skies, EVERYTHING was red.
"Am I dreaming?" Chai questioned before pinching his left arm. "Ow! Okay, not a-" He paused as he just realized he moved his right arm. When looking over, his whole right arm was replaced and he was rocking some new clothes. A black jacket, red shirt with a crushed star, jeans, sneakers and a yellow scarf with red flaming tips. "Oh, sweet! Guess some event must be happening in the campus," Chai convinced himself as he began to walk around, seeing all sorts of freaks from imps, ghouls, etc.
"Is it Halloween or something?"

A magic machinations story: Benjamin and the first herbomancer
It wasn't a normal day, benjamin was called to the center of the city, a giant plant was attacking the structure and destroying piping with its roots.
Benjamin was just starting working as a rescuer at the start of the year, seeing all this destruction as a 17 year old showed him how truly important this work is.
The screams were deafening, the noise of the destruction struckbenjamin´s iron ears.
As a technomancer his duty is using his steel form to protect others and give protection to the people evacuating, he saw how the vines broke walls and Windows, he must contain the danger.
He breathed in and changed into his steel form, metal plates covered his body reinforcing him, his iron hands strong as ever and he charged forwards.
As people evacuated he held off, slicing the coming vines and thorns, he walked forwards towards the center of the plant observing the giant bulb.
The Monster became more violent and while Benjamin was agile, he didn't Dodge in time, a vine sending him towards a wall and trying to break his body with all its might.
Benjamin baredly could move, he was hurt but not scared, he remembered the teachings of his grandmother, how to talk with the plants and fungi, and while he could talk he did his best to listen.
He Heard the screams, the pain, and realized the plant did not want to do this. He whispered to it and the roots holding him towards the wall gave up.
He remained calm and moved forward towards the bulb, a voice almost calling him.
Flowers blossomed under his steps, and as he got close, the flower snapped shut, trapping him inside it.
He passed out and in his unconsciousness he saw her, a girl no older than him, chained and stabbed from thorns that grew from the inside, she cried sap, her hair made of petals, her hand blossoming from flowers on her arms.
Her blood was colorless and she was inside his mind.
He ran towards her to try and help but she only said-“i'm sorry for this…. I will die soon…. I will make sure of that”.
Benjamin tried comforting her but she spoke again-"I don't want To be the Monster that is outside but I was scared To die until You whispered To me… now I know that I don't have To die alone".
Benjamin felt how the bulb closed more and more as the air started To leave his lungs -"You don't have To do this"- he said both for self preservation and the safety of this girl-"there must be a better solution".
The girl chuckled and downed her head -"I do have, as long as I live he Will use me for destruction".
"At Least this way I can stop it for good"- she said as her voice started To tear up -"the pain can finally end".
"Who did this To you"- Benjamin asked- "who is using You? I promise I can stop him".
"It's no use, he is Miles away from here, My mission Will be over before You can reach him"-she proclaimed.
"don't be pessimistic"- said Benjamin fearing for his life yet he can't show it- "if You free me I can stop him before You fully close this bulb, I promise"- he said opening his arms.
"If You promise then, i think i don't lose anything, thank You for making me company… have luck out there"
Benjamin gets spit out of the bulb and gets up on his feet, he tells the other members of the rescue team To cease all attacks and starts running like never before.
Overclocking his core To reach the location, he moved so fast that he cutted through the air, somehow he knew where the controlar was almost as if the girl was telling him.
He broke into the building and reached the room of the controller, and in his speed he phased through him breaking him in half, covered in the Scarlet liquid he started To try finding ways To stop the plant.
He ended up breaking the control panel and escaping The building and running back To the bulb.
He reached and as he approached To whisper To it, the moment he touched it, it blew up.
Among the pollen and plant matter Benjamin Saw the girl fall To the wreckage, in less than a second he caught her in the air and runned towards a place where she could get Medical help.
He finds a hospital near a local park, they do their Best with the lack of information and manage To stabilize her vitals.
Regarding her mutations, there was nothing they could do, Benjamin stayed by her side as she recovered.
He fell asleep by the side of the hospital bed, his body tired from overclocking, exhausted until.
"You kept your promise"- spoke the girl- "yet it seems that i'm still a Monster simply smaller" -the girl stared at her hands- "i'm no human, not anymore".
"SO what?"- responds Benjamin in his steel form- "I'm not fully human either but I promise You that we can find a way To fix it, ok?".
"Do You truly believe that?" -she asked, he replied,- "of course, My family is known for fixing problems, but still You are no Monster, You are…. A herbomancer ,how does that sound?".
"It's comforting i suppose, thank You"- she looks confused for a second- " oh i do not know your name may You Tell me it".
"Gladly, i AM benjamin sharper ferreo local hero and defender of the people, and i'm glad To be here to help You. Now how about You tell me your name".
"I can't remember it sadly" -she said in a sad voice, promting benjamin To say- "well how do You want me To call You"
She thinks for a second and says.
Call me... buttercup
That's a Nice name

Save Me From My Programmed Mind
Summary:
Sparrow falls to his knees, submerging himself even further in the water now filling his death chamber. One of his eyes sparks, and his vision cuts out. His hearing lasts only a few seconds more, the splashing of water drowned out by the hiss of static. He just wishes the water would get to his centre faster. But for now it’s just him, the static-filled darkness, and the pain. The pain that he inflicted on himself, just so he could escape what he thought was the greatest miracle of science ever created. --- (aka I got a little too exited and rewrote Copper Golem Sparrow's death)
Ao3 link here
(545 words)
“My name is Sparrow, and I-”
He falters for a second. If he still had lungs, his breath would have hitched.
“I don’t want to be like this anymore.”
Sparrow squeezes his eyes shut, and sends a spark of electricity into the electronice in front of him. The small device whirs, and starts to glow a dim red. He steadies himself, and turns to face the machine hissing and clunking to life. The metal cage clicks, and starts to slide into its upwards position.
He crouches down, and narrows his eyes at the small pile of dirt in the centre. All he needs to do is trick his robotic instincts into thinking he’s just going to clean it up, and he’ll be free. He places his hands on the ground in front of him, almost like how someone would crouch at the start of a sprint.
“Now.”
He hisses through his teeth, and launches himself into the machine, just as the walls move up, trapping him inside. It’s almost painfully similar to how he got in this situation in the first place.
A small warning light burns in the back of his mind as small spots of water start to splash against his copper casing from the tube above him. He ignores it and tips his head back, exposing the gap between his plating at his neck. His systems flare up as the first trickle seeps into his wires.
OUTER CASING DAMAGED. SEEK IMMEDIATE AID.
Sparrow hisses in pain at the sharp sparks in his CPU. The warning blares red, obscuring his vision for a few seconds. He can’t tell if the pain is coming from that or the water at this point.
“Yep, that's fine.”
The warning flickers and fizzles out, glitching like the rest of his vision as the water streams down his face, soaking his clothes and destroying his insides. A small rock flies out the pipe and snaps his antennae clean off.
He can barely feel it as the water bubbles above his head, the chamber nearly full. His consciousness starts to swim as he feels his circuit boards being corroded. Good, he thinks, that means it will all be over soon.
His vision flickers back for a second, just long enough for him to see the eyes of all of the factory's copper golems staring at him. Not in panic, or in shock. Just staring.
He barely feels it as the water soaks his CPU, his consciousness finally giving in.
Days later, the tank drains. His loose parts clink against the stone flooring, oxidised and water damaged beyond repair. The mind once trapped inside them is finally at peace.
Miles away, Sparrow sits bolt upright, gasping for air.

Blurb #44
I'm going to try to share 70 blurbs from my WIPs and unfinished fics to celebrate reaching 70 posted fics! To help with this endeavor, please feel free to send me a word or a fandom you know I write for, and I'll share the blurb. IDK if I'll get 70 prompts, but let's try it! Send as many as you want!
Operating the elevator with two plates was a little tricky, but he managed to hit the button for the bottom floor without dropping anything. Down he went, farther than he ever thought he would on this excursion, and when the door opened, he was peering into darkness.
He stepped off the elevator, and the doors closed, leaving him in blackness.
“Hm.” He hummed to himself, wondering if he had gone down too far. But Sabine said the bottom most floor, so this must be right?
Slowly, his eyes adjusted to the shadows, and he could see scant light filtering through the iron pipes that made up the hallway.
“All the way to the end, turn right, then all the way to the end, turn right again, and follow that hall.” He muttered Sabine’s instructions.
He walked until he bumped into some pipes, and the turned right. This hall had wood on the left side, making up the outside of ship. He could see closed portholes cut out of the wood. On his right was about a dozen laser canons, with tiny blinking lights on them, letting him know they were ready to go.
He rushed down that hall.
His next right turn gave him a curved hall, but he could see the light on the end. These walls were lined with machines, no doubt computers to send attack commands to the lasers.
And then he found her. Amidst all this cold, dark metal. She had a light on, so she was perfectly illuminated.
A porthole was opened behind her, as she sat on a wooden bunk, built into the hull of the ship, elevated above the rest of the portholes and cannons.
Her bed could very well be destroyed first if they ran into any fights.
She was working on a project, what looked to be half a scarf draped over the edge of the bed, and two sticks whirled around in her hands.
He cleared his throat.
She startled, and then looked to him. “Y-your majesty!” She flailed, tossing her project aside. “What—I’m sorry, how did you get here? Why are you here? It’s so dangerous! Are you lost? I’ll show you back upstairs!”
He couldn’t help but chuckle at her frantic ranting. And it was refreshing to not have her asking for permission to—well, do anything. Most would ask for permission to speak or ‘please allow me to escort you back upstairs.’
But no. She was probably treating him like she treated everyone else. Minus the title.
“Actually, I came to see you.”
“You—to see—me?!? But—“
“Here, I brought you dinner.”
“Oh! I’m not supposed to—“
“And they’re going to tell the Crown Prince that he can’t feed someone? Especially when I’m paying for the food?”
She swallowed, staring at the plate. “Well, no, I just—don’t want to get you in trouble.”
“How would I get in trouble?”
“It just—the Duke doesn’t like you talking to me.”
“Well, what the Duke doesn’t know won’t hurt him, will it?” He winked at her.
She blushed, and then smirked herself. “I didn’t know the Prince had a rebellious side to him.”
“I might have a streak.” The smug smile dissolved slightly to something more pathetic. “I won’t have the chance to rebel when I’m king, anyways.” He gestured to her bunk. “Mind if I join you?”
“Oh please, be my guest!” She leaned down and took the plates from him so he could climb the ladder.
“Hey, this is pretty nice!” He looked around the nook. He kicked off his boots so he wouldn’t get dirt on her sheets. “You have an actual bed! I think only me, my father, and Chloe have mattresses.”
“It’s a trade off for sleeping down here.”

Professional cleaner and cooking lover here!
Use dish soap and a sponge for cleaning your bath tub/bathroom tile walls. It's cheaper and SAFER than using chemicals.
Go to Goodwill often for pans, plates, glass cups, etc. Just clean them well and you'll have enough for what you need, however INSPECT them thoroughly. If it's ceramic, even a little cracking in the finish is enough to reject the item.
Barkeepers Friend is the BEST cleaner for very dirty items, ranging from stainless steel to glass. Beware, it's abrasive.
Have two sets of rubber gloves- one for cleaning, one for dishes. Make sure they're different colors!!!
I cut a corner off of sponges for when they're not for dishes. Makes things easier to identify.
CONSUME DENTED CANNED GOODS FIRST. ANYTHING DENTED CAN CAUSE BACTERIA TO GROW INSIDE OF THE CAN OVER TIME. If you're really unsure, just don't eat it.
When looking at new recipes, compare the number of stars vs number of reviews. Why trust fifty people over a few thousand?
Pick a veggie you've never cooked with before, start looking at what specifically uses that veggie. Experiment for like a week.
Have a notebook in the kitchen, copy recipes you like. Bonus points for adding the average cost.
Vinegar + baking soda in a bag, use a rubber band to secure, your faucets should run better. Including shower head. Unscrew your faucets once a year to clean, sediments gets caught in it.
Clogged sink? Sometimes just pouring boiling water is enough. Sometimes not, you'll have to purchase a drain snake. Avoid washing products like sugar scrubs down your drain, and flushable wipes don't disintegrate they're bad for your pipes they'll clog.
Have different colored rags for different cleaning chemicals/surfaces. Do not wash these rags with anything else, they need their own cycles. Have specific rags for in the kitchen to dry your hands while you're cooking. It's extremely important to wash your hands during the process several times.
HAVE ONE CUTTING BOARD SPECIFICALLY FOR MEAT, EVEN BETTER ONE FOR EACH TYPE OF MEAT TO PREVENT CROSS CONTAMINATION. HAVE ANOTHER CUTTING BOARD FOR FRUITS/VEGGIES ONLY. I cannot stress this enough.
Powdered laundry detergent is cheaper, to prevent bleached spots on clothing premix the powder in some water then add into the laundry machine. DO NOT LEAVE WASHER WITH LID CLOSED UNLESS YOU LIKE MOLD/MILDEW. Most manuals will tell you to leave the lid open so it can dry from the inside properly.
Do laundry on a specific day every week. It helps to have a specific podcast or show you like to watch, only listen/watch it when doing laundry as a motivator/reward.
Once a year, have your landlord check the lint exhaust pipe from your dryer. If your dryer isn't drying very well this may be the reason. IT'S A FIRE HAZARD IF IT'S NOT CLEANED OUT.
**IMPORTANT** ALWAYS take pictures pictures of literally everything at any angle when you first move in/out. Shelves, tops of the shelves, inside of the dryer/washer, anything you can see inside and out. Scummy landlords have many tricks to claim you did damage they did after you moved out. ALWAYS protect yourself. Nobody is your friend in the apartment world. Be wary having room mates, even if they're friends. I've personally been horribly scorned by a friend turned room mate. Also, always look into your RENTERS RIGHTS for your state, and if one party consent regarding recording conversations is in your state.
You can remove and clean the trap for the air vent above the stove, I soak mine in the vinegar+baking soda combo. Check this regularly.
You know those Pumice stones ads will tell you to use on your feet? GOOD NEWS EVERYONE! They're great for Glass, Porcelain, and the inside of your ovens! DO A TINY TEST SPOT FIRST because it can scratch your shit up baaaaad. But if you have hard stains, such as on your glass stove, in your oven, and TOILETTE it's a life saver.... just, please, ffs keep the toilette one separate from everything else!!
It's important to take a bit of time for yourself, don't allow chores to build up to the point where it'll take an entire day to deal with it over five minutes. Start small like with the bathroom mirror, you'll gradually progress.
Vacuum, dust, mop, and sweep more often than you think you need to. Work from top to bottom.
Most stoves have this feature where you can lift the flat part on top to clean underneath from overboiled food stuffs. Do this unless you want cockroaches.
Degreaser helps clean the inside of fridges so well! If you must clean the freezer.... have this be a 'moving out' task, unplug the fridge and let that shit thaw, have towels ready for the melted ice and then use the degreaser.
MAGIC. ERASER. Use this for baseboards (that trim on the bottom of your walls), wall stains from your hands, cabinets and whatnot, just please wear gloves this stuff RUINED my hands when I didn't. It's way more abrasive than you think and I managed to accidentally strip paint off of the walls and stripped the sealing in the bathtub so be careful.
Use your vacuum tube extension where the base of the wall meets the edge of the floor, it does more than you think. You can also use this tool to 'dust' the baseboards.
If you're cooking something, and there's time you're waiting for something to boil or whatever, take that time to prep other veggies and foods to make the next meal that much easier.
Go to Asian Markets, buy rice in their biggest bags. It's cheaper over time, just store the open bag in a big ol tub that doesn't have holes to prevent bugs. Unless you're needing the extra crunchy protein.
Cook large batches of food, not just one meal a day. Make breakfast casseroles, big ol servings of rice, bake veggies, have meat already cooked. People used to eat leftovers for breakfast before sugary cereal, and it's soooo much cheaper/healthier than cereal! All you gotta do is store it and reheat when ready.
HAVE A PHYSICAL, PAPER CALENDAR for when you've made food. Food poisoning is the worst. Don't heat leftovers more than once unless you feel like being a geyser from both ends. Typically food shouldn't be in the fridge for more than a week at most a few days, always smell it/small taste test. If it's even a little off, it's not worth taking the day off of work.
Feel free to send asks to me directly about things I may have missed, I'm always the Mom Friend in the group and if I don't know an answer to something I'll at least help do some research to give you a head start. It does not bother me in fact I'm so happy to help others. Please take care of yourselves young loves💙
Dear people living on your own for the first time:
Here’s some advice I wasn’t told from the myriad of posts before that I wish I’d been given before
Wash the OUTSIDE of your pots and pans as well as the cooking surface. I’ve had a few roommates now who have only cleaned the inside and I’ve had to replace a $150 set of cookware twice.
“its only one time, how bad could using metal on nonstick cookware really be?” very bad. don’t do this.
Buy a rice cooker. Buy the middle tier rice cooker. Cheap ones will burn your rice, high tier ones are too expensive. Rice is good and cheap and, really, you don’t actually have to wash it if you don’t care about making gourmet food.
Buy band-aids. You don’t think you need band-ads until you need a band-aid, and by then it’s too late. (if you don’t follow this advice, a paper towel and some tape is an acceptable solution while you go get real bandages and neosporin)
You are on tumblr, which means you probably spend most of your time in one spot on a computer or phone. if this spot doesn’t have a trash can in arm’s reach, put one there.
I spent 4 years piling trash on my desk in increasingly precarious ways until I had a designated area to put it. Trash cans can and should go anywhere there is a frequent generation of trash, typical locations be damned.
If you live with one or two roommates, discuss placing empty boxes in the back of your fridge and freezer. You probably don’t need all the space that the standard 5-person-family fridge provides, and tupperware will be shoved back there and left to stink up the entire appliance.
Get a wall calendar, put it somewhere communal, and have everyone put their household-relevant schedules on it. Communication is by far the weakest link with roommates (even good ones!) and having something to reference for appointments is always good

Processing performance of Tantalum
Tumblr media
Processing performance
Tantalum has good plasticity, low deformation resistance, and low process hardening. It can be processed into plates, strips, foils, pipes, rods and wires at room temperature.
Tantalum can be formed into various devices & parts using traditional processes, equipment and tools such as metal spinning, deep drawing, bulging, bending, punching & cutting, stamping and drawing.
Machinability
The mechanical properties of fully recrystallized pure tantalum are similar to soft copper. In order to meet the tolerance and surface roughness requirements, the following machining method can be used: turning, milling, grinding and reaming, boring, tapping and others.
Welding performance
Tantalum has the best welding performance amount all refractory metals, and can be welded with carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloy, titanium alloy, etc. Electron beam welding and inert gas shielded tungsten arc welding can be used to weld tantalum chemical equipment components with ductility-brittleness transition temperature below room temperature, which can meet the requirements of chemical industry. Tantalum-Steel composite materials can be prepared by explosive welding, which is an effective way for manufacturing tantalum lining of large-scale corrosion-resistant equipment. We can use silver solder, copper solder and several special high-melting metal solder alloys for tantalum soldering connection.
Welding and brazing must be performed under vacuum or high purity inert gas. Resistance welding or seam welding can be performed in air or underwater.
Heat treatment
For best processability, tantalum is often used at a stress-relieved or recrystallized temper. The recrystallization temperature is determined by the purity, the amount of cold work, and historical conditions. Recrystallization temperature of pure tantalum plate with specific thickness is 1000-1250 ℃.

Recyclability: Stainless steel is environmentally friendly, as it can be recycled and repurposed without losing its quality.
3. Manufacturing Process of Stainless Steel Flanges
The production of stainless steel flanges involves several meticulous steps, ensuring quality and precision:
Raw Material Selection
The process begins with choosing the right grade of stainless steel, such as 304 or 316, depending on the flange's intended use.
Forging
Stainless steel is heated and shaped under high pressure to create a strong, dense structure. This step enhances the flange's mechanical properties.
Machining
After forging, the flange undergoes machining to achieve its final dimensions and features. CNC machines are often used for precise cuts and smooth finishes.
Heat Treatment
Heat treatment processes like annealing enhance the flange's strength and resistance to wear.
Quality Control
Before leaving the factory, flanges are rigorously tested for dimensions, strength, and surface finish to ensure they meet industry standards.
4. Types of Stainless Steel Flanges
There are various types of stainless steel flanges, each serving different purposes. Here are the most common ones:
Weld Neck Flanges: Ideal for high-pressure systems, providing excellent stress distribution.
Slip-On Flanges: Easy to install and commonly used in low-pressure systems.
Blind Flanges: Used to seal off pipe ends, often in testing or maintenance operations.
Socket Weld Flanges: Suitable for small-diameter, high-pressure pipes.
Threaded Flanges: Require no welding and are easy to install and remove.
5. Common Applications of Stainless Steel Flanges
Stainless steel flanges are versatile and find use in several industries:
Oil and Gas: Withstand corrosive environments and extreme temperatures.
Chemical Processing: Ideal for systems handling aggressive chemicals.

Customize sheet metal to meet your individual needs
What is sheet metal processing:
Sheet metal processing is called sheet metal processing. Specifically, for example, the use of plates to make chimneys, iron barrels, oil tanks, ventilation pipes, elbow sizes, day garden places, funnel shapes, etc., the main process is cutting, bending, bending, welding, riveting, etc., which requires a certain knowledge of geometry.
Sheet metal processing in a variety of ways:
Sheet metal is sheet metal hardware, that is, parts that can be processed by stamping, bending, stretching and other means, the general definition is that the thickness of the parts does not change during the processing. The corresponding casting parts, forging parts, machining parts, etc., such as the iron shell outside the car is sheet metal parts, and some cabinets made of stainless steel are sheet metal parts.
Advantages of sheet metal processing:
1. Fast processing speed
The most significant advantage of sheet metal processing technology is that the cutting speed is fast and is not limited by the number of processing.
2. The effect is significant
Laser cutting in sheet metal processing is non-contact cutting, and the effect of edge heating is very small, which can prevent the adverse effects of thermal expansion of the work piece.
3. Not limited by material characteristics
Sheet metal processing can quickly process aluminum alloy plates and cemented carbide, no matter how high the hardness, you can directly cut without deformation.
Shenzhen Jingbang has decades of processing experience in the hardware industry, and has superb technology for sheet metal processing. In the field of metal sheet metal processing has its own characteristics and technology. Choose sheet metal finishing parts where we can harvest high quality.

Idk what joy old people get by pretending they have all the knowledge in the world.
(please don't say shit like, "they're still your grandparents, you shouldn't bitch abt them" etc, etc, I'm tired of hearing that.)
Personal rant under the cut:
I have never wanted to shake anyone by the shoulders because who doesn't know the basic concept of heat and density is like what?????
Like i get that you had the education of the 1940s which probably wasn't rly much (and this is actually true don't come at me)
But bro how can you not know that if you put something that is light in water, it WILL float up????? LIKE BRO THESE PEOPLE OUT HERE SAYING SOMETHING IS WRONG W THE MACHINE BECAUSE THE WATER HAS MORE DENSITY THAN THE FUCKING ALUMINIUM PLATE (like i get that density might be a big word but even the simplest of minds know that something light in water will float up)
Also. My grandmother is a masterchef. I've eaten her food and it was 👌👌👌 but now, at 80, after two falls and a bad arm, understandably, she has lost her touch. But, any person who can cook, be it something packaged or from scratch, knows that continuous heat burns the food.
Now, a rice cooker has two modes. Cooking and Keep Warm. When the rice is cooked, it goes to Keep Warm. Now the problem is, my grandfather, who does a lot of pujas and venerations and stuff, needs the rice to offer to god. He wants it to be kept at 7 in the morning, even tho he starts his worshipping at 8 and the offering is done at 9.
The rice cooker cooks the rice in 45 minutes. For some reason, the old man thinks that if the rice is not put into the machine at 7, he won't have anything to offer.
But anyway, my mother as well as the rest of us adhere to their rules. Now the thing is, Keep Warm mode also keeps producing heat. And that results, in the rice burning a bit and sticking to the bottom of the vessel.
Now, my grandmother, the woman who claims to "know everything" is claiming that something is wrong with the VESSEL. My grandparents have this thing that the food should be hot. And not like warm, hot. The kind where you'll have to wait for two minutes before touching it hot. There have been incidents where the curd was boiled because of their insistence.
Anyways, so the rice cooker is supposed to be switched off when it reaches Keep Warm mode. Max, it should be kept on for 30 mins or so. Hell, it's there so that you can make the rice quickly just before lunch, so that you can have it piping hot.
But, no.
"I used to finish cooking till 9 in the morning! My in-laws would throw me out of the house if it hadn't been like that! We didn't have this rice cooker and shit in our times we had to cook it in this big iron pot!"
Like... ok? Wtf do we do abt that? We have stuff that makes our lives easier and that's why we're using it.
God, I can't understand old people who're obsessed with how things were at their young age, with how their work used to go and everything.
Like, hey Grandma, bathrooms didn't fucking exist at your times right? If you want us to make that mental imagery of 1940s true for you, why do we have bathrooms in our house? Why're you using the AC, that didn't exist at your time, right?
Yk I've met old people who're sooo different from mine. Who move on with the ages, while keeping the nostalgia of their own. The right way to do it, is to miss your younger days and to talk about it.
Half the time she talks both out of her mouth and her ass. She herself doesn't know what's right or wrong, she's only here, staying in our home to tell us that everything her middle aged son, middle aged daughter in law and newly adult granddaughter are doing is wrong. That God is watching and that we'll get punished.
It's a fucking tragedy, how the abused becomes the abuser and the traumatized becomes the one who traumatizes others. And now, I'm afraid that my mother is going on the same path, while my father and I are actively trying not to.
😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 anyways.

Key Takeaways
Innovation in the realm of aerospace and defense materials is being fueled by ongoing advancements in materials science and engineering. The development of stronger, more resilient, and lighter materials such as improved composites and alloys is made possible by these breakthroughs. These materials are essential for increasing performance, reducing fuel consumption, and extending the life of defense and aerospace systems. For instance, the use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP) in airplane components has significantly reduced weight without sacrificing structural integrity, saving fuel and improving performance. The fabrication of complicated geometries and bespoke components is made possible by developments in additive manufacturing techniques, which further expand the capabilities of materials used in aerospace and defense.
Several nations’ governments are making significant investments in R&D projects to create cutting-edge defense and aerospace technologies. For instance, as per the International Trade Administration, Canada has aerospace sector spent more than C$680 million (about $523 million) on research and development in 2022, making it more than 2.3 times more intensive than the industrial average. For the first C$2 million (about $1.55 million) in eligible R&D expenses, the Canadian government offers complete write-offs of R&D capital and equipment. This encourages businesses in the Canadian sector to maintain an advantage over rivals worldwide.
As per the Indian Brand Equity Foundation, with approximately $223 billion in planned capital expenditures for aerospace and defense over the next ten years and a projected $130 billion investment over the medium term, the Indian defense sector is among the biggest and most lucrative in the world. This will contribute to an expansion in the market for aerospace and defense materials.
By Product Forms — Segment Analysis Flat Products dominated the Aerospace and defense materials market in 2023. Advanced high-strength steel alloys and aluminum are examples of flat products that combine strength and lightweight. For aerospace applications, where a lighter aircraft can result in significant fuel savings and increased efficiency, this weight reduction is essential. For instance, in October 2023, GKN Aerospace and IperionX, a titanium developer located in North Carolina, joined to supply titanium plate test components that are produced using powder metallurgy and titanium angular powder processes. The main goal of this collaboration is to manufacture high-performance titanium plates for testing purposes at GKN Aerospace. It ends with the possibility of future cooperation between GKN Aerospace and IperionX, especially for projects related to the Department of Defense (DoD) in the United States.
Slabs provide industrial flexibility since they can be further processed to create a variety of products, including plates, sheets, strips, and structural elements. Because of the material’s adaptability, aerospace and defense companies can create a vast array of parts and structures and tailor them to match particular design specifications. For structural elements including fuselage skins, wing panels, bulkheads, floor beams, and armor plating, slabs are widely employed in aerospace and defense applications. For the structural loads, vibrations, and difficult operating conditions found in aerospace and defense settings, slabs offer the strength, stiffness, and longevity needed.
Inquiry Before Buying
By Material — Segment Analysis Metals & Alloys dominated the aerospace and defense materials market in 2023. The aerospace industry relies heavily on various metals due to their unique properties. To safely interact with and complement the new composite materials that are rapidly taking over the aerospace industry. Metal alloys like titanium and nickel-based superalloys are replacing aluminum structures in applications requiring extraordinarily high strength-to-weight ratios. The demand for Superalloys based on nickel, cobalt, and iron is also increasing which makes them perfect for hot applications in jet engines. For example, in June 2023, ATI Allvac, which manufactures nickel-base and cobalt-base superalloys, titanium-base alloys, and specialty steels for the aerospace industry, said that it had received an estimated $1.2 billion in new sales commitments from major aerospace and defense industries. For instance, in November 2022, Emirates invested $2 bn and began its huge 2-year refurbishment program with the first of 120 aircraft slated for a full cabin interior upgrade and the installation of the airline’s most recent Premium Economy seats. Similarly, refurbishment activities are expected to strengthen the market throughout the forecast period.
By End-use Industry- Segment Analysis Aircrafts dominated the aerospace and defense materials market in 2023. There is a growing usage of high-performance materials in commercial aircraft applications. for example, Boeing estimates that the airline industry will need more than 44,000 new commercial aircraft by 2038, with a total estimated value of $6.8 trillion. All these aircraft employ composite materials. Aircraft manufacturers are producing new commercial, military, and general aviation aircraft models, which necessitate the use of modern materials with higher performance and lower weight. As a result, the emphasis is shifting toward newer material technologies such as composites. Also, wide-body jet engines have undergone significant transformations in recent years, due to the development of turbofan engines and the use of fuel-efficient techniques. These transformations are expected to increase the market growth.
By Geography — Segment Analysis North America dominated the aerospace and defense materials market in 2023. In terms of aerospace and defense technologies, the United States and Canada are at the forefront. New, high-performance materials utilized in these industries are developed as a result of ongoing discoveries and developments in materials science. The defense budget of the United States is among the highest in the world. High levels of government investment in defense raise the need for cutting-edge materials for use in aircraft, military hardware, and other defense systems. On 11 December 2023, The Department of Defense’s (DoD) Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) Program and the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation® (IACMI) announced a national initiative to help meet critical defense needs in the casting and forging industry for the United States. Curriculum creation for a series of stackable training opportunities in the metals industry, with an emphasis on the development of trades and engineering workers, is currently underway as part of the multi-year agreement between DoD and IACMI.

Drivers — Aerospace and Defense Materials Market • The Growing Demand for Lightweight and High-strength Materials The growing need for lightweight and high-strength materials is driving substantial growth in the global aerospace and defense materials market. Due to their high strength-to-weight ratios, lightweight materials like carbon fiber composites, titanium alloys, and advanced polymers are in high demand by the aerospace and defense industries. These materials not only reduce aircraft weight but also improve structural integrity, which lowers operating costs and fuel efficiency.  High-strength and lightweight materials have always been essential to building aircraft that are both fuel-efficient and highly effective. aluminum is a major material used to make aircraft. Aluminum was utilized in the production of several aircraft components, including the fuselage and other primary engine sections since it was lightweight, affordable, and easily accessible. Since then, innovative materials have been used to improve aircraft design, including composites (made of carbon and glass fiber, polymeric and epoxy resins) and metals (titanium, steel, new AI alloys). For instance, on 23 October 2023, The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) under the Biden-Harris administration selected the American Aerospace Materials Manufacturing Center as one of the 31 first Tech Hubs nationwide. About 50 public and private partners are brought together by Gonzaga University’s AAMMC Tech Hub to foster innovation and development manufacturing of composite materials for the next generation of lightweight, environmentally friendly aircraft. For instance, in 2020, NASA engineers have created novel materials that can be utilized to create better aircraft engines and related system elements. Silicon Carbide (SiC) Fiber-Reinforced SiC Ceramic Matrix Composites (SiC/SiC CMCs) are one of these materials. For high-performance machinery, such as aircraft engines, that must run for lengthy periods under harsh conditions, this lightweight, reusable fiber material is perfect. In between maintenance cycles, SiC fibers are robust enough to endure months or even years, and they can tolerate temperatures as high as 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit.
• The Global Civil Aviation Industry is Expanding Rapidly The global civil aviation industry’s explosive expansion is one of the key factors propelling the aerospace and defense materials market. The aerospace and defense materials industry’s demand for materials is heavily influenced by several interrelated factors, all of which contribute to its rise The rise in air travel worldwide, which is being driven by urbanization and increased disposable incomes, is one of the main factors. The increased demand for commercial air travel as a result has forced airlines to modernize and grow their fleets. The pressure on aerospace manufacturers to make sophisticated, lightweight, and fuel-efficient aircraft is pushing the development of advanced alloys, lightweight composites, and high-performance materials that promote environmental sustainability and passenger safety. For instance, the aviation industry is and will continue to expand rapidly. The International Civil Aviation Organization’s most recent projections indicate that throughout the next 20 years, the demand for air travel will rise by an average of 4.3% per year. For instance, according to the IBEF, India is the third-biggest domestic air travel market globally. By 2024, the domestic aviation market in India is expected to grow to $30 billion, ranking third globally. The aviation industry has benefited from an increase in the proportion of middle-class households, fierce rivalry among low-cost carriers, considerable airport infrastructure investment, and a favorable political climate.
